Coordinator of International Manuals

SUMMARY
ICON Health & Fitness is the world leader in fitness technology, designing and producing an array of fitness equipment and wearable trackers that enable users to carry out personal strategies to improve their health and fitness.  The user’s manual group at ICON has an immediate need for a coordinator to oversee the conversion of English user’s manuals into 19 foreign languages.  The user’s manuals are Adobe InDesign documents, and the conversions are done by the coordinator and by three on-site project managers/desktop publishers using SDL Trados translation software, contract translators, and full-service translation companies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following.  

  • Report to the User’s Manual Group Manager regarding matters related to international user’s manuals
  • Maintain documentation for the procedures for converting English user’s manuals into International User’s Manuals.  In addition, maintain resource materials-glossaries, localization guides, and so forth) used by project managers/desktop publishers, contract translators, and translation companies
  • Maintain a pool of contract translators and translation companies, give necessary instruction, and receive and submit invoices
  • Maintain a schedule of required international user’s manuals and miscellaneous projects
  • Oversee the day-to-day work of project manager’s/desktop publisher’s and ensure that projects are correctly prioritized and that the workload is efficiently distributed
  • Communicate verbally and/or in writing with Scheduling, Sales, and other internal and external customers 
  • Other duties may be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Work with the User's ’annual Group Manager to hire and supervise project managers/desktop publishers (There are currently three)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • The successful applicant will be fluent in at least one foreign language
  • Have an understanding of the translation/localization process
  • Have desktop publishing experience
  • Have a relevant associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree
  • The successful applicant will also have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and will be comfortable working in a sometimes fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills, creativity, and attention to detail are a must
